Democrat Senator Al Franken is refusing to step down from his seat as a congressional committee investigates allegations of sexual harassment.

Franken apologized for numerous sexual misconduct accusations against him on Monday, and promised this type of behavior would not happen again.

The former comedian has been accused of inappropriate behavior toward women dating back more than a decade ago.

He said he plans to fully cooperate with the Senate Ethics Committee, but for now will remain in his seat.

“It’s been extremely humbling…I am embarrassed…I feel ashamed,” said Franken.

He reiterated his desire to regain the trust of the people, saying he needs to learn from his mistakes after three women publicly accused him of groping.
