The Department of Defense identifies a recently deceased soldier as Chief Warrant Officer 2 Lee Smith of Arlington, Texas.

The Pentagon said Smith died from wounds he sustained from a non-combat related incident in Iraq on Saturday.

The 35-year-old soldier died in Camp Taji during the Inherent Resolve military operation aimed at curbing ISIS activity in Iraq and Syria.

S mith was assigned to the 100st Combat Aviation Brigade of the 100st Airborne Division based in Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

The Defense Department has yet to release details of incident as it is currently under an investigation.
