President Trump is set to make a big announcement on trade once he returns to the White House on Wednesday.
This comes after he met with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit in Manila.
The president said he and his counterparts have made “very big steps” on trade in an effort to ensure more fair and equal deals.
He cited $300 billion in additional commercial deals with numerous companies, including a major agreement with China.
“We’ve made a lot of big progress on trade, we have deficits with almost everybody, those deficits are gonna be cut very quickly and very substantially,” announced the president. “This has been a very fruitful trip for us, and also in all fairness for a lot of other nations.”
President Trump also said Wednesday’s statement will reflect the progress made on North Korea during his landmark Asia tour.
