President Trump proclaimed Friday World AIDS Day to honor those impacted by the deadly disease.

In a statement released by the White House on Thursday, the President said the U.S. honors those who have lost their lives to HIV and AIDS.

The President said the country celebrates the remarkable progress being made in combating the disease and reaffirmed the ongoing effort to end it.

On Friday, a massive red bow was hung outside the White House in keeping with a yearly tradition.

World AIDS Day has been observed annually in an effort to raise awareness.
