President Trump has reportedly selected his pick for the ambassador to South Korea.

According to Korean media, the White House has made a request to approve the appointment of Victor Cha, which Seoul is expected to quickly accept.

Previously, Cha served as the director for Asian Affairs under former President George W. Bush.

Cha currently works as the Korea chair at Washington’s Center for Strategic and International Studies as well as the director of Asian Studies at Georgetown University.

If nominated and approved, Cha would replace Mark Lippert, who served in the former administration.

He would also be the second Korean-American to take the post.
