President Trump’s planned military buildup will add $683 billion to the Pentagon’s budget over the next decade.
The Congressional Budget Office’s report from Monday predicts that under the National Defense Authorization Act military spending will surpass that of the Cold War-era.
The current administration’s plans are 20 percent higher than the Obama administration’s budget estimates.
The president’s proposed buildup follows a call to increase the number of people in the Army and Marine Corps in addition to the number of U.S. military ships.
The NDAA will raise next year’s budget to over $700 billion after being overwhelmingly passed by Congress.
