A top Republican senator expands his investigation into the Obama-era Uranium One deal.
Wyoming Senator John Barasso says the Obama administration misled him about Uranium One’s ability to move nuclear fuel out of the U.S.
The controversial deal allowed a sale of U.S.-based company Uranium One to a subsidiary of Russia’s state-controlled enterprise — Rosatom — back in 2013.
Senator Barasso alleges Uranium One did export nuclear fuel back in 2012 without a special license, and was in violation of federal regulations.
However, the Russian company assumed control of Uranium One in January 2013.
