Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau denies a sexual harassment claim from an incident 18 years ago.

On Thursday, Trudeau’s press secretary said he doesn’t think the prime minister had any negative interactions with a reporter at a music festival in Creston, British Columbia.

Trudeau, who was 28-years-old at the time, allegedly groped her and later apologized saying if he knew she was from a national newspaper he wouldn’t have been so forward.

Trudeau, who describes himself as a feminist, has actively fought against sexual harassment and sexual assault throughout his political career.

“I have been working on issues of sexual assault for over 25 years. I’ve been very, very, careful all my life to be thoughtful and to be respectful of peoples space and peoples head space as well” -Justin Trudeau, Canada Prime Minister.

The allegations have resurfaced in the media as world leaders participate in the G7 Summit on Friday.

Trudeau plans to make gender equality a ‘top priority’ during summit conversations.
