China is accusing the U.S. of being delusional for claiming its recently proposed tariffs are in the best interests of America’s economic prosperity and national security.
Chinese media continued to chastise the Trump administration Friday for cracking down on the country’s unfair trade practices by proposing additional tariffs on Chinese products.
The media condemned the move as an act of paranoia.
This comes after Chinese Ministry of Commerce spokesman Gao Feng warned that the proposed tariffs will dramatically impact global trade relations.
“The U.S. is abusing the tariff methods and starting trade wars all around the world,” said Feng. “This will seriously damage the world trade order, undermine the interests of trade partners and the interests of its own enterprises and people — this action is unpopular.”
President Trump has taken a hard-line stance against China’s trade practices. He has accused the country of taking advantage of American companies for decades, which has put some U.S. industries completely out of business.
