Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell canceled the August recess. He is accusing Democrats of dragging their feet on key issues.
In a statement Tuesday, McConnell said due to historic obstruction by Senate Democrats of the president’s nominees and the goal of passing appropriations bills prior by the end of the fiscal year — the August recess has been canceled.
He added, senators should expect to remain in session to pass legislation and make progress on the president’s agenda.
The statement went on to say lawmakers are expected to have a state work period for the first full week in August before returning for the rest of the month.
