The Senate pushed through President Trump’s nominee for the Department of Homeland cybersecurity unit.
Lawmakers confirmed Christopher Krebs as the new head of National Protection and Programs Directorate in a voice vote on Tuesday.
The confirmation comes almost four months after Krebs was nominated by the president.
In his new role, Krebs will be responsible for the prevention and early detection of cyber attacks to protect infrastructure.
Krebs will also help states secure their voting systems.
