The FBI recently foiled a planned Fourth of July attack in downtown Cleveland, Ohio.
According to authorities, American citizen Demetrius Nathaniel Pitts was taken into custody on Sunday, following an undercover investigation which began in 2017.
A final meeting between FBI agents and Pitts revealed the suspect conducted surveillance in downtown, and planned to park a van filled with explosives in the area.
The terror suspect also expressed his desire to join the terror group Al-Qaeda and to kill military members on his social media accounts.
Pitts will appear in federal court Monday, where he faces up to 20 years in prison.
