France and Russia send aid to Syria in the first joint humanitarian operation between Moscow and a western country.
A military cargo plane carrying more than 40 tons of clothes medicine and tents arrived at a Russian military base today.
The aid will be distributed to residents on the outskirts of Damascus through the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid.
The Syrian government’s operation in Eastern Ghouta earlier this year killed more than 1,700 civilians and caused more than 160,000 to be evacuated from the region.
