Israel is cracking down on the Gaza Strip by placing new restrictions amid ongoing violence from Palestinians. The restrictions went into effect Tuesday on Israel’s only cargo border crossing.
Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said the country will not being transferring gas or fuel until the end of the weekend. However, food and medical supplies will continue to cross through.
In addition, Palestinians are also restricted from sailing more than three nautical miles off the Gaza coast.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke at an Israeli community near the Gaza border in defense of the new limitations.
“We are in a campaign — there is an exchange of blows and I can tell you that the IDF is ready for any scenario,” he stated. “I was very impressed by what I saw here and I know that like me, every Israeli citizen believes in the IDF and gives it their backing ahead of any possible development.”
This comes as the terror group Hamas agreed to a ceasefire last Saturday. However, Palestinians continue sending incendiary kites and balloons into Israel, causing harmful fires and injuries.
