Special Counsel Robert Mueller is stepping in to block a former Trump campaign chairman from leaving jail early to prepare for trial.
In a Federal Appeals Court filing Thursday, Mueller argued Paul Manafort can’t be trusted to leave potential witnesses alone.
However, Manafort’s lawyers are saying there is no evidence linking their client to witness tampering, and claim his detainment makes it nearly impossible to prepare for trial.
Manafort is currently being held at a facility in Virginia under solitary confinement after a judge revoked his bail last month.
He is expected to go on trial for a slew of charges starting Wednesday, July 25.
