The Pentagon releases the identity of the U.S. service member killed in an apparent insider attack in Afghanistan.
The DOD released a statement Sunday, identifying the solider as Cpl. Joseph Maciel of South Gate, California.
He died Saturday when a member of the Afghan Security Forces opened fire at an airport in the southern part of the country.
The Pentagon’s statement did not offer any other details about the incident, other than two others were wounded in the incident.
Maciel had served in the army for two years and had been station in Afghanistan since February.
He’s survived by his mother and his father.
