A top White House aide is reportedly stepping down from his post despite pressure to stay for the Supreme Court confirmation battle.
Thursday reports are saying Director of Legislative Affairs Marc Short is leaving the administration later this month.
He is one of President Trump’s longest-serving aides and his top aide on Capitol Hill, who was reportedly a key player in the confirmation process of Justice Neil Gorsuch.
Some hoped he would reverse his decision, believing he would be essential in the fight to confirm Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
Politico reported that he will take a position at a Washington, D.C. lobbying firm and teach at University of Virginia’s business school. Short is expected to leave Friday, July 20.
