Kansas Governor Jeff Colyer employs a lawyer in possible anticipation of a legal battle over the closely contested GOP primary.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the incumbent’s campaign has hired former U.S. Attorney Todd Greaves, who has experience with election law.
In a statement on the move, Colyer’s campaign cited alleged efforts by secretary of state and primary opponent Kris Kobach to discard valid votes.
Kobach has denied any wrongdoing in relation to vote counting and has recused himself from the process.
Kobach is currently leading the race by around 100 votes but a recount is likely to take place.
