The Senate Judiciary chairman is pushing back against Democrats’ demand for documents about Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
On Monday, Senator Chuck Grassley announced his staff has completed the review of more than 430,000 pages related to Kavanaugh’s work history.
He added, that’s double the number of documents reviewed for past Supreme Court nominees.
Grassley believes Democrats are trying to delay Kavanaugh’s confirmation until after midterms, with the hope of winning back the Senate this November and blocking the nomination indefinitely.
“The minority leader said that he would oppose Judge Kavanaugh with everything he’s got,” said Senator Grassley. “This desire to obstruct, to obstruct the entire process, explains their partisan push to to bury the Senate Judiciary Committee in a mountain of irrelevant paperwork.”
Senate confirmation hearings are set to begin next Tuesday for Judge Kavanaugh.
