House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who is a self-proclaimed Catholic, calls for a complete revamp of the Catholic church to adopt a new way of handling sexual misconduct.
During a press briefing on Capitol Hill Friday, Pelosi urged the church to change how they handle the process, but refused to comment on whether Congress should intervene.
Meanwhile, Pelosi said she is awaiting an upcoming summit, where bishops from around the world will convene to figure how to stem the tide of alleged sexual abuse within their ranks.
That meeting is scheduled to take place in Rome next year.
