The U.S. and china hold high-level talks, aimed to resolve ongoing trade tensions.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Defense Secretary James Mattis were joined by their Chinese counterparts at the State Department Friday.
The second round of diplomatic security talks were supposed to be held in Beijing last month, but were postponed at Washington’s request amid continued tensions over trade, Taiwan and the South China Sea.
President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are set to meet later this month at the G20 summit in Argentina.
