Vice President Mike Pence stood by as the remains of two U.S. servicemen, who were killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan this week, returned home.
Pence attended Friday’s ceremony at Dover Air Force Base in honor of Army Captain Andrew Ross and Air Force Staff Sergeant Dylan Elchin.
The men were killed on Tuesday, alongside Army Sergeant Eric Emond, when the heavily armored vehicle they were traveling in struck an IED.
The attack took place southwest of Kabul, where Taliban forces are gaining ground.
The servicemen were posthumously awarded several medals for their sacrifice, including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal.
