There are new developments in the case of a Florida woman, who disappeared while vacationing in Costa Rica last week.
On Monday, officials revealed a body was found buried in a wooded area less than 200-feet behind Carla Stefaniak’s Airbnb.
Fluids were also discovered inside her room that are consistent with blood, but authorities are not yet sure if the body belongs to Stefaniak.
“As a consequence of this tracking, at midday we found the decomposing body of a person and according to preliminary investigations it’s the body of a woman,” stated Chief Walter Espinosa of the Costa Rican Judicial Police force.
Stefaniak was in Costa Rica celebrating her birthday with her sister-in-law.
She was reportedly last seen leaving her Airbnb, and getting into an Uber with her luggage early Wednesday morning — this is according to the property owner of the Airbnb.
The investigation remains ongoing.
