President Trump is speaking out against the recent resignation of the U.S. Special Envoy to combat ISIS Brett McGurk.
The President said he’s “never personally met McGurk in a series of Tweets on Saturday. He says the the 2015 Obama appointee was supposed to leave his post in February, but left earlier than expected.
McGurk’s decision to resign comes in protest of a move made by President Trump to bring home troops from Syria.
The difference in perspective when it comes to combating the terrorist group has been well-known prior to the Envoy’s resignation.
McGurk gave a status update regarding the fight against ISIS earlier in December, saying more work needs to be done.
The President later claimed if any other leader would have brought troops back from Syria they would have been “the most popular hero” in the United States.
