President Trump is calling on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY.) to push the “First Step Act” to a floor vote.
The President, in a tweet on Friday, said he hoped “Senator McConnell will call for a vote on the criminal justice reform bill.”
He also said the bill has support from members of both parties, and will save taxpayer dollars.
Members of the Trump Administration have been working with President Trump to overhaul the nation’s prison system and change sentencing guidelines.
It’s unclear if the legislation has enough votes to pass in the Senate.
